National housing data shows a possible opening in the housing market.According to NH Association of Realtors vice president Joanie McIntire, this possible trend has not reached the Granite State.”Just normal average workers, it’s very very difficult still,” McIntire said. “Hopefully, we will see a moderation, because 20% increase in prices a year isn’t, I don’t believe, sustainable.”Active listings on Realtor.com increased almost 19% in June compared to last year. In New Hampshire, listings are up 4% from 2021.”Although that might be up a little bit, it still is very, very low compared to what we have seen,” McIntire said. McIntire said homes are still selling very quickly.”I have buyers, who are looking at condos, and they’re one of 15 or 20 offers,” McIntire said. “A lot of first-time homebuyers like you said are getting bid out.”Other realtors like Kami Zink say they are beginning to see changes.”We’re starting to see some home inspections come back, which is a huge one for buyers, and we’re not seeing the crazy over asking price offers coming in. They are normalizing,” Zink said.Zink said sellers should think about listing sooner rather than later. She said buyers should work with an experienced agent and prices could begin dropping soon.”You are going to start to see a change for buyers and we’re gonna start getting more people into houses,” Zink said.
