Here are the new payroll dates for the rest of the month

This month comes with a few changes in the regular payment schedule, so all beneficiaries must be aware that their Social Security payments could sometimes come with double payments. The Social Security Administration creates an annual schedule for retired employees, survivors, people with disabilities, and SSI users so they can oversee their monthly finances and record these dates on their calendars. How are Social Security payments scheduled?

Usually, Social Security distributes five sets of monthly benefits, but this month comes with an additional payment at the end of the month. The first round of Social Security payments is always sent on the first day of the month for SSI recipients; the second round is sent on the third day of the month for retirees who claimed benefits before May 1997; and the last three rounds are sent to all retirees who claimed benefits after May 1997, survivors, and disabled people,  depending on each recipients birth date. 

Everything changes for Social Security payments because of this reason

In rare cases, the Social Security Administration must reschedule payments that fall on a holiday or weekend. To avoid recipients being jeopardized and maybe receiving the money later, the Social Security Administration reschedules the payment for the prior working day. For example, this year’s first of June fell on a Saturday, thus the SSA postponed this payment for Friday, May 31st, the previous business day. This means that some months, such as this one, will have more than the usual five payments.  

For this reason, May comes with a double SSI payment on May 1st and May 31st. However, remember that this is not considered an extra payment; rather, recipients will only receive their Social Security payments from June earlier. How much will recipients receive from their Social Security payments this month?

All beneficiaries who qualify for Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) benefits could receive different payment amounts based on several factors, such as the full retirement age (FRA), working history, and Social Security contributions made to the system.
