The online women’s clothing retailer Sosandar intends to focus on physical expansion by opening up to 50 outlets.

Over the following three to five years, the fashion store is “targeting around 50 [shops] in total,” according to Julie Lavington, joint chief executive of the company, who spoke with The Times.

It occurs just before Sosandar is set to launch its first two locations in September in Chelmsford, Essex, and Marlow, Buckinghamshire, as a result of a fruitful collaboration with Sainsbury’s, which saw the clothing line’s merchandise carried in the supermarket chain.

As it transforms into a “true multi-channel retailer,” Lavington stated that the business would build locations in affluent market towns and cities. With consumers returning to the high street in the past year, the local internet company has worked to increase its physical footprint.

“Virtually 100 per cent of them want us to because they like being able to do both,” according to Lavington, who stated that Sosandar has asked its clients if they wanted the brand to build stores.

The retailer disclosed last week that, despite a 9 per cent increase in sales to £ 46.3 million, it had lost £ 300,000 for the year ending 31st March, compared with a profit of £ 1.59 million the previous year.
