Chef Chapin shares upcoming Sierra State Parks Foundation 50 year celebration


RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -On Morning Break’s KOLO Cooks, Chef Jonathan Chapin of Reno Recipes whips up some Black Bean Chili Verde sliders.

Ingredients:

  • slider buns
  • chicken thighs
  • black beans
  • onions
  • roasted garlic
  • spoonful of Woody’s cooking sauce.
  • jalapenos
  • shallot
  • cheddar cheese
  • chili verdi
  • mayo

Directions:

  1. Heat up garlic beans and onions.
  2. Puree, set aside.
  3. Cook chicken shallots and jalapenos.
  4. Deglaze with wine.
  5. Top with cheese, cover until melted.
  6. Mix chili verdi and mayo.
  7. On the bottom of the buns, spread sauce. On top, spread the black beans purée.
  8. Add tomato, cut and eat.

Heidi Doyle of the Sierra State Parks Foundation joined Chef Chapin to share how the foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special event at Ed Z’Berg Sugar Pine Point State Park on Wednesday, June 26.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, with limited tickets still available for those eager to join the festivities. This milestone event will feature engaging activities and opportunities to learn about the foundation’s efforts in preserving the natural beauty of the Sierra State Parks.
