Jefferson Parish closes 12 schools Friday due to power outages
The Jefferson Parish School District announced that 12 schools in the parish are closed Friday due to power outages. This comes after storms with hurricane-force winds moved over the area Thursday night. The following schools will be closed Friday: A.C. Alexander Birney GT Woods Greenlawn Hazel Park Benson Bonnabel Bissonet Keller Schneckenburger Bunche Audubon Chateau Estates St. Philip Neri is also closed due to power outages. WDSU has reached out to the Archdiocese of New Orleans for a list of school closures. *An earlier version of this story reported that JC Ellis was closed. The school district has since issued a correction stating that the campus will be open Friday.
