The Montgomery County Free Clinic is excited to invite you to our signature food and fundraising gala, Dining with the Chefs. The event will take place Aug. 10 at Wabash College. Tickets are on sale now at https://www.mcfreeclinic.org/dining-with-the-chefs/.

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dining with the Chefs, as we come together for a memorable evening and take time to focus on our mission. This year the event kicks off with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by McGowan Insurance Group and Auto-Owners Insurance, this will be a great time to enjoy appetizers, drinks and fellowship. A sit-down family-style fine dining experience will follow.

The trio of chefs, Jason Anderson, Lali Hess and Rick Warner, have been teaming up for a decade of decadent dishes and are preparing to wow your tastebuds with some of their favorite dishes and twists on classics.

“We are so fortunate these three chefs, their sous chefs and assistants have been with us for this event since the beginning,” said David Johnson, MCFC executive director. “Their talent and creative culinary ideas keep this evening fresh and ever changing. We could not do this without their passion and support.”

The menu for 2024 features food from around the world with passed hors d’oeuvres like: seared diver scallops with risotto fromage and micro basil; local corn fritters with dill creme fraiche; and ceviche shooters with baby shrimp and micro cilantro. Dinner will entail a three-course menu starting with a salad course of Mexican salad with shredded chicken, vegetables and tangy lime and olive oil dressing. The main course will be Korean barbecue beef with fried rice and vegetables. Dessert course will offer a traditional Vermont-inspired Apple Incredible Cake a la mode. Carefully chosen wine pairings selected by local wine connoisseur, Patrick Taylor, will accompany the meal.

The evening program will include honored guests, MCFC volunteer awards, silent auction and a special live chef auction. Proceeds will fund the clinic’s work to serve uninsured residents of Montgomery County.

Reserve seats now for $85 per person or $640 for a table of eight. Don’t wait — the event sells out early. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for as little as $250.

Your support will help ensure that Montgomery County residents do not go without basic needs like medicine and care from licensed medical and dental staff. For 56 years, beginning with the Well Baby Clinic and the Christian Nursing Service, hundreds of health care providers and concerned members of the Crawfordsville community have been providing a variety of services for individuals and families. The Montgomery County Free Clinic Board incorporated and became a not-for-profit organization in 2010 as an outgrowth of CNS enabling the expansion of services in a purpose-built facility.

Montgomery County Free Clinic Inc. offers high-quality medical and dental care and health promotion and disease prevention services to residents of Montgomery County who lack insurance and would otherwise go without basic health care. The MCFC is led by an administrative and medical staff and guided by a generous board of directors.

The MCFC also operates the Meals on Wheels program in Crawfordsville, delivering more than 15,000 meals annually to area senior citizens, administers the Faith Alliance funds, ensuring access to critical mammograms and moderates the MontCares Listserv, a rapid communication system that connects more than 100 local non-profits, churches, schools, and governmental entities to better serve those in need across Montgomery County. In addition, the Dr. Mary Ludwig Free Clinic at 816 Mill St., home of MCFC and named in honor of one of our original founders, is a Gold Standard health care facility as rated by the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, which encompasses more than 1,400 free and charitable clinics across the United States.
